Contact Routes for Douglas County Records

Choose the Douglas County Office That Holds the Answer

Sheriff Jay Armbrister leads the Douglas County Kansas Sheriff's Office. For sheriff operations, contact the Public Safety Building at 3605 E. 25th Street, Lawrence, KS 66046, call 785-841-0007, or fax 785-841-5168. Corrections and the Douglas County Correctional Facility are at 3601 E. 25th Street, Lawrence, KS 66046. Call 785-830-1000 or fax 785-830-1085. The jail lobby is open 24 hours; its reception desk is staffed weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., subject to holidays and posted closures.

Formal sheriff records requests go through the DGSO NextRequest portal or the Records Custodian at 785-832-5211. For a booking photograph, use the Public Information Officer form and supply the person's name and CHRI number; Public Information is 785-832-5113. Match the question to the route below.

• Use the Douglas County records hub to distinguish the 14-day Booking Recap, current In Custody report, and separate PIO photograph request.
• For a warrant question, call DGSO warrant inquiries at 785-832-5368 or the Warrant Officer at 785-865-6212; court dates belong with the Clerk of the District Court at 785-832-5256, option 1.
• For current county custody or release status, check the official DGSO report timestamp and call DCCF Corrections at 785-830-1000 when the report is offline or uncertain.
• For a city police incident record, use the records route of Lawrence, Eudora, or Baldwin City; DGSO remains the custodian for the resulting DCCF booking record and photo.
• For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Kansas Department of Corrections KASPER search, not the county jail roster.
• For a federal prisoner or adult immigration detainee, use the official BOP or ICE locator. Those are separate custody systems and do not establish a Douglas County booking.
• Call 785-843-0250 for local nonemergency dispatch. Call 911 only for an emergency.
